I am a slacker. 50 lashes with a wet noodle.

A few posts back, I mentioned that I had not written much on my novel recently. I gave my inspiring monologue on commitment and going for your dreams. Now comes the downside of writing a blog. I have to be transparent in order for my words to mean anything.

I have not written any on my book in over a month now. Ugh. There it is. The potent truth. I have written an eight page summary of a movie idea and two pages of a screenplay but zero, zilch, nada on the novel.

I have the usual laundry list of excuses. Work. Contract work. Help kids with homework. Have family stay at our house for a few days. Family time. Chores. Etc. We all have a list.

And the truth is every author has a list. The difference is they do not allow their list to be an excuse. They write because they are writers. So here I am, passing over the three seconds of feeling sorry for myself. Now I will put myself more on the line.

From now on, I will post how many words I have written since last post in every post. More transparency. More accountability. I know I will not be perfect, but you will all know it when I am not.

There is my pledge. If any of you wan to join me, you are welcome to post your progress in the comments of each post.

Here's to a new day, a blank slate, and a full page.

Hi. I discovered your blog by chance. Good luck on writing (and publishing) your first novel ! It will be a great journey :)
I plan on finishing my first novel, too, so I'll keep tabs on your blog.
